Edit php.ini to include "register_global = On" 
seems to fix this part.
Now: import errors out
Warning: LDAP: add operation could not be completed. in

Summary:  Addressbook import fails  Apache version 2.0.40

Original Submission:  Either with Ldap or Mysql for storing addresses, you can 
add addresses manually fine. Import from Outlook function fails without any 
error messages, just reloads the import page again. The same is true for 
importing a Vcard. This behavior is the same with any browser

RH 8.0 php/mysql/apache installed from rpms
export function fails as well
