contains no data". When I check the apache log it has this line 10 times.

Looks like the user is not allowed to connect to that db.
The error you are seeing is being returned by the mysql libs...

I guess this means that my database isn't accepting connections?

If I comment it out, I get the following message, repeated many times:

Warning: Access denied for user: 'address@hidden' (Using password: YES) in
/home/httpd/html/phpgroupware/phpgroupware/phpgwapi/inc/ class.db_mysql.inc.php
on line 90

Try commenting line 76, which should read:

$phpgw_setup->clear_session_cache();

change it to:

//$phpgw_setup->clear_session_cache();

Tried using both localhost and the ip, it doesn't even try to set a cookie.

Opera reports "Connection closed by remote server" and generates the same entry
as netscape in the error log.

Netscape reports "The document contained no data..." and generates only one
entry in apache's error log : " [notice] child pid 3722 exit signal
Segmentation fault (11)

Mozilla reports the same in the error log but doesn't stop trying.

What hostname are you using, or are you using an IP address?

Can you enable warnings for cookies in your browser? Setup will need to set
some cookies for the login process.

I also get this: running MDK8 with apache 1.3.20, php 4.0.6, mysql 3.32.41, and
phpgw 0.9.14RC3

Have tried just about everything I can think of, to no avail.

I've also got this problem.
Running RH7.2. phpGW was freshly installed from rpms. I can change the
header.inc.php file, but can't get further than that
