You also have a combo box at the top right of the GCS (showing WGS84 at startup). If you click on it and change in order to select one of your waypoint, you'll have the bearing and distance from this point at the location of the mouse pointer on the map (instead of the WGS84 lat/long coordinates).

Or is it better to use mavlink and an existing GCS with preexisting measurement tools?
