Hi Hector and Reto.
First i am using an electric powered plane that usually flies at 1000 to 3000m
Hector I think you are right that velocity has to be taken into account.
About the drag increase due to increased AoA i just estimated that at 4 degrees (max allowed 8 degrees) the airfoil lift to drag ratio should be at maximum but of course you need to know CL and CD for
a range of AoA in order to fly as efficiently as possible.

Reto i agree that the correct method is to increase speed as the air gets thiner otherwise the plane might stall or consume more energy that needed. The control loops actually do a good job by increasing speed so lift remains the same
if am not mistaken, I am just trying to save the last few watts.
