Hi Ana,
Is there anyone using sbas in Europe?
Some days ago they turned on "safety of life" operations and left the
test mode:
http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/policies/satnav/egnos/safety-of-life-services/index_en.htm
Here in Madrid we have had several bad GPS accuracy days and someone in
the list(sorry I don’t remember who, maybe Christophe) has told me to
use an sbas system. I have been reading about EGNOS and I would like to
try it out. Looking for configuration info in the paparazzi wiki, I have
read the following:
6.UBX->CFG->SBAS: Disable (SBAS appears to cause occasional severe
altitude calculation errors)
I don’t know if the problem persists nowadays.
We have done a few flights recently and it worked ok - which is not a
very strong indication. U-blox warned to use it as long as it was not
fully operational. Not sure how that is now. There were some issues with
the US WAAS system reported by Paparazzi users years ago. Seems that
u-blox also has an issue with computing power and SBAS.
Then I don’t know how to change this flag in the GPS, maybe is there an
easy way through ublox? I don’t want to modify the GPS info needed for
paparazzi to work.
start u-blox center
go to View/Messages View
go UBX/CFG/SBAS
x enabled
Allow test mode use
Ranging
x Apply SBAS Correction data
x Apply integrity information
