Thank you for the advice on the video capture devices. I already have a video receiver, so I don't think I'll need the Pollin unit.
I'll look into the Pinnacle or EasyCap.
 
Are these devices mostly plug-and-play, or is there some configuration required?
Accodring to the wiki, I should use Spook to receive and compress the video data. Any updates or changes to this procedure?

Pinnacle DVC-100 here, you can still get them and their bretherin on
amazon.
Hauppage usually work well also.
