I had a similar problem.
If you can flash the tiny-chip with - sudo ./paparazzi - I don't understand why this would be a hardware issue.
I'm working with ubuntu. There you can give useres the rights to use ports etc. (Usermanager)
Also check that you are in the right user-group.

Don't forget to restart the system.

1. sudo ./paparazzi works. no Issues.

2. dmesg | tail -5 gives the following o/p:

address@hidden:~/paparazzi$ dmesg |tail -5
[  175.880021] usb 2-5: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5
[  176.288018] usb 2-5: device not accepting address 5, error -62
[  176.464021] usb 2-5: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 6
[  176.872018] usb 2-5: device not accepting address 6, error -62
[  176.872031] hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 5

Is this right? especially the 5th line.

3. I am a user in the plugdev and copied the rules to udev (confirmed visually)

tried running following code at terminal:
make AIRCRAFT= MIcrojet clean_ac ap.upload

gives the same o/p as before:

no USB device
make[1]: *** [upload] Error 1

make: *** [ap.upload] Error 2
