Hi Eric,

as the booz sim was mainly meant for testing control algorithms it
currently does not integrate normal operation that well ;-)
GPS is simulated though.
Currently the mode is always set to AUTO2 in the booz sim. And for the
BOOZ_A1 airframe (see autopilot section) that corresponds to ATTITUDE
as horizontal mode and Z_HOLD as vertical mode. So the quad will hold
the the altitude which makes sense for testing (usually done via the
scripts). The only thing that happens in this mode if you reduce
throttle with the joystick, is to limit it.
So this is why the quad always stays at around 2.5m (which is the
initial altitude defined in
conf/simulator/jsbsim/aircraft/reset00.xml).
