I also thought about control with airspeed sensor. For now we have a well stability in normal mode, but some problems in agressive modes. For example during takeoff in auto2 agaist the strong wind, climb rate is low because of we count speed from GPS, not airspeed and autopilot considers that speed is too low. For the first step I would just replace GPS speed with airspeed for agressive modes.
The next problem as we have only GPS speed - the moment when the plane gets from against the wind to downwind. In this moment it loses alitude. This problem could be solved in the next step, for example with throttle acseleration when airspeed decreases.
The another (perahps better) solution could be to stabilise airspeed with throttle and pid controller to pitch angle from altitude error(with additional control loops for plane not stall in the climb and not speed up in the descent), but this must be carefully tested, as we can bumped into hidden dangers.

The paparazzi team includes you :) sooooo get writing. Actually airspeed control coupled with pitch control is an interesting problem. My theory is a lot of the simple control logic that paparazzi uses would have to change to really make the airspeed/altitude system work.

Great work Vassilis.
If Eagletree provide a sensor that will output directly the IAS then
many application will be able to use it not only the Paparazzi autopilot.
Model Jets already use an IAS instrument in order not to exceed the
airframe's
speed limit and brake up in the air.
After the sensor becmes available we need the Paparazzi team to modify
the code in order to actually use airspeed sensor's data.
