Yes it makes sense to have the OSD in the aircraft. It will only
weighs a few grams. The idea is for the pilot to have the choice to
fly the plane like a regular RC plane or to fly it fpv (looking at the
video feed) with the help of video headset
(http://www.gowiththeshark.com/). This way the pilot doesn't have to
stay near the computer and will know in what phase the autopilot is,
allowing him to take control if something goes wrong. It also opens
the possibility to fly missions where no computer is required on the
field.
