I'm curious about this too. I pushed really hard a few weeks ago to
get some
sort of response from them, but as usual they were non-committal. I'm more
interested, personally, in getting this happening on the new Linux Flints,
and the "sales response" to me was that "well we can't do anything other than
8 bit on Linux because of the graphics drivers", which was followed by me
giving him a Most Evil Eye. :) I calmly explained that I've been doing
floating point comp on Linux for some time now, thank you very much, and also
using OExr via Houdini recently. He backed off and suggested that more
specifically it was *Discreet* getting their code working with the drivers on
Linux that was more at issue, and it was dropped. Alas, I fear the 8 bit
only Flint is more a marketing decision than practical.
It would be great to get them on board, nonetheless, for any of their
products, but often their tying themselves to the hardware causes things like
this to move slowly. I'd love to hear any spurious gossip, press releases,
etc.
