The first release candidate for Octave 4.0.0 is available from

In addition to the sources there is a binary installer for Windows.

I'm sure there will be problems that need to be fixed so it is unlikely that this version will become the 4.0.0 release without some changes. But please try to build this version and report any problems you find in the bug tracker. I've added a new version tag for the release candidate, so please use that when reporting problems.

Built on Ubuntu 14.04. Had to specifiy libblas path. make check results in:

libinterp/corefcn/graphics.cc-tst ............................./../libinterp/parse-tree/lex.ll:2697: void octave_base_lexer::handle_number(): Assertion `nread == 1' failed.
panic: Aborted -- stopping myself...
octave exited with signal 6

http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?44469

Can you please try to play with your locale as indicated there ?

My locale is:

C
C.UTF-8
en_GB.utf8
en_US.utf8
en_ZA.utf8
POSIX

However, Octave installed successfully and I could run my Matlab models. I've tested the same model with both Octave and Matlab and I've included a graphic from both programs. To me it seems that Octave is functioning well? I do see some differences with other graphs, but that would require detailed analyses and comparison.

Regards

Steph
