I tried to adapt the fltk plotting widget to the changes in the pan,
rotate3d, and zoom functions but it's possible that I've broken
something. If so, please report the problem and I'll try to fix it.

This looks good! Do you have definite rules about what goes in the
toolbar and what goes
in the edit or file lists? Right now a few things are in both... Should
this be "sort of like
Matlab"? Or even have a Matlab-like option? And, for plots that have
text written in
them by the usual text command will the text be editable?
Anyhow, it is great that this is getting done!
(But, please do not forget the 4.0 release schedule.... There will
always be a 4.0.2.)
