I got back to testing this again today, ran into the next error:
[download] glpk
Wrong checksum of package glpk!

Connecting to s3.amazonaws.com [...]
Snip the rest of the error, basically 404 for glpk-4.47.tar.gz. Why
it's downloading from amazonaws and cloudfront and not from gnu.org I
don't know. I just downloaded glpk from gnu.org directly into the pkg
subdirectory and make continued fine from there. The rest of the build
completed after that.

Yes, it does run under wine, most things seem to work including fltk
graphics. Almost any external command fails for me, including gnuplot,
probably just a minor PATH problem. There is no makeinfo in the build
yet so help is no good.
