There are two functions in the Octave Forge sources that use
compare_versions. But taking a closer look at compare_versions, it
seems that it doesn't care if there are things like -rc1 appended. So
in the future, I'll use that form of version number for release
candidates and I'll also be sure to make a release candidate before
making an actual release.
