I think the idea of a fellowship and office hours would be quite good. I
notice that the last modified date on the Mercurial web page you sent was
10/2010 so funding for his fellowship lasted at least 7 months. You might
be able to e-mail him directly and get a better idea on how he managed to
set things up.
