If it is desired to be consistent with Matlab, I'm running 2009a. The intitial
title would be "Figure 1".
The command ...
> set (gcf, 'name', 'foo')
... produces a window title "Figure 1: foo", and adding the command ...
> set (gcf, 'numbertitle', 'off')
... produces a window title "foo".
