hello,

please comment on the attached changeset, implementing fzero.
The algorithm used, referenced in the script, is due to Alefeld, Potra
and Shi (ACM alg. 748) (although heavily transformed).
According to authors, it should have better bracketing properties than
Brent & Dekker's inverse quadratic interpolation (which is probably
used in Matlab,
at least the docs seem to suggest so.) I have not yet thoroughly
verified to what extent this claim is true.
