The intent was always that the graphics list was for discussion about the future of graphics and GUI tools in Octave, not a place to get help. But it is often misunderstood, so some years there were probably more postings on the graphics list asking for help that there were discussing the implmentation of new graphics tools.
I think it is fine like that. There are people involved with Octave core who really shouldn't be bothered with detailed graphics. If it is discussion about graphics innards, then the graphics list. If it is a new feature in graphics or about behavior everyone might have an opinion on then both graphics and maintainers list. An occassional help query to the graphics list is fine. (Such queries will just go to some other list anyway, not stop.) Dan
