make install-strip also seems not to work on linux.
$ ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/oct2150/ --enable-static=no
--enable-shared=yes --disable-readline
$ make
$ make install-strip
$ /usr/local/oct2150/bin/octave
octave: error while loading shared libraries: libcruft.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory
$ make install
$ /usr/local/oct2150/bin/octave
octave:1>
$ make install-strip
$ /usr/local/oct2150/bin/octave
octave:1>
I'm using debian stable on a PII-266.
