Follow-up Comment #37, bug #55225 (project octave): I'm not sure how write caching works on Linux. But I suppose that it is dependent on (parallel) disc access. I can't reproduce the issue even for very high numbers of parallel jobs. When I check the write cache with hdparm, I see the following: $ sudo hdparm -W /dev/sda /dev/sda: write-caching = not supported Is this the same for you? Could you try disabling the write for the drive that holds your tmp directory and see whether that makes any difference?
