Update of bug #57587 (project octave):

                 Summary: Symlinks are not handeled transparently => Should
symlinks follow physical structure or logical structure?

Follow-up Comment #4:

This seems like an opinion question, rather than a definitive bug, so I
changed the Summary to reflect that.

Octave can probably implement either convention, although staying with
physical structure would be easier because that is what is already
implemented.  As a tcsh shell user, I'm surprised by the opposite behavior,
but I could learn to accept that.

It would probably be wise to ask this question on the Octave Maintainer's list
and get a broader survey of opinion then just the users who happen to see this
bug report.
