Details:
Presently, the documentation for max reads "For two matrices (or a matrix and
a scalar), return the pairwise maximum." I would propose to write more
explicitly "For two input arguments, the pairwise maximum is returned
following the rules of broadcasting." or something along the lines, because
this is what is done (which is also the desired behaviour in my view). The
same holds also for min, obviously.
