Follow-up Comment #6, bug #56952 (project octave):

I have seen very similar crashed. More often recently. 
E.g. see all fedora buildbot crashes. 
I also got them on my workstation(s). 

After freashly built octave:

Attached is the trace as captured by system logger.

I wonder is the "hgsave weirdness" as discussed on maint list
is somewhat related to this as well.
