Follow-up Comment #3, bug #56884 (project octave):
The iterative mean was proposed sometime in the early 1960's.
It is definitely better than what is currently in Octave.
I have the impression that Kahan is better, but a bit more
review would be good. Checking on how R does it would
make sense.
