Follow-up Comment #3, bug #56865 (project octave):

I recognize the missing cursor feedback but then from from undocked VE
*sub*panes, not the entire VE pane. The tolerance margin is still a few pixels
on the subpanes.

Do we refer to the same thing, "widgets" and "subpanes" ?
