Follow-up Comment #4, bug #56840 (project octave):

I have installed the dev Octave version (5.1.1, hg id: d9d10a49926d) from
comment #3 on the same Win10 machine as in comment #0. And this Octave version
behaves all fine in this respect (i.e.: no second icon in the last step).
So this akward behavior seems to be already FIXED in the current mxe-octave,
and we'll just need to wait until it's released.
