Follow-up Comment #15, bug #50692 (project octave):
This issue is also showing up in the CLI, not just the GUI.
I left the CLI open overnight, and it has started doing this (generating
spurious line feeds) at some point, still every 30 seconds, but now slightly
after the 17 and 47 second marks of the system clock. This may be a useful
clue as to what's causing the issue...
