Hello again,
I've spent a long time trying to replicate the
creation of the snowballs zones in 3ds max
i'm using 3ds max 5.1 SP1 and from speaking to
people in the NeL irc and observing
the snowballs Max files ive managed to generate
terrain, paint and use it in NeL but...
my zones are quad patches with 7 x 5 segments
converted to editable patch this
gives me the right amount of vertices compared to
snowballs and when i paint they
look very nice but im not convinced im correct
simply because when you speak of
16x16 tiles in landscape generation pipeline, where
a tile is assumed to be a texture
i have a huge number of tiles ( textures ) required
to paint a zone.
mine look smooth ( bezier ) inside 3ds ( i dont
think there is a smoothing on / off for patches )
compared to snowballs planar max zone files i would
love for the pre-conversion 3ds max files
for snowballs to be available simply we would of
known what they actually where and settings
used rather than jsut seeing rykol patch objects
which are pretty useless considering we
dont have the modified edit patch nevrax
do.
but to sumarise a small explanation on what is
recomended settings / mesh object to create
for landscape would be ideal and make me much
happier having altered the system i currently
use or knowing im doing it right ( which i am
doubtful of ).
Thanks again.
