[Monotone-debian] Bug#623891: monotone Build-Depends missing zlib

From: Stephen Leake
Subject: [Monotone-debian] Bug#623891: monotone Build-Depends missing zlib
Date: Sun, 24 Apr 2011 04:19:08 -0400
User-agent: Gnus/5.13 (Gnus v5.13) Emacs/23.2 (windows-nt)

Package: monotone
Version: 1.0-1

In a new chroot, installing all the Build-Depends for monotone
give an error:

address@hidden sudo schroot -- aptitude build-depends monotone
Unable to satisfy the build-depends: Build-Depends: libz-dev.
...
(see attached monotone_config_zlib-aptitude.log for full details)

Then running configure for monotone gives a related error:

address@hidden cd /home/Projects/monotone/
address@hidden schroot -- apt-get source monotone
Reading package lists... Done
...

address@hidden cd monotone-1.0/
address@hidden schroot -- configure

configure: error: in `/home/Projects/monotone/monotone-1.0':
configure: error: zlib is required

According to config.log, the actual failure is:

configure:4415: g++ -o conftest -g -O2 -Wall -W -Wno-unused   conftest.cpp -lz
 >&5
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lz

It appears the proper Build-Depends should be on libz-dev, a virtual
package provided by zlib1g-dev in wheezy.

Installing zlib1g-dev allows configure to complete.
