Re: E-Mail alerts

I was able to sort this out now. I had each host sending through a smart-host for e-mail and thought it was translating the hostname to an actual resolvable domain name on the internet. However, that was not the case. I have changed the from address on all hosts to address@hidden and now e-mail is working as expected.

the only translation going on in my Postfix setup is as below. This works for everything else and has for over a year. But anything is possible I supposed. But even this translation does not match up with what I am seeing.

address@hidden:~$ cat /etc/postfix/generic

@ansible  address@hidden

@ansible.everythingshouldbevirtual.local  address@hidden

Hmmm, then I can only imagine your MTA as a culprit.
Is it possible that some translation takes place?
:-(

Can you send a mail as the user that monit uses?
