I’m not sure I like your tone there. We have used a fair amount of work to create Monit which everyone can use, modify and fork under an Open Source License and we think that this is great. If you want to contribute to Monit then that is much appreciated, but we naturally want to keep some control. Most open source projects have similar contributor terms, from GNU projects, to Apache and Bootstrap. If you think that this is unreasonable, then don’t contribute. This is perfectly fine, we don’t expect anything back.

you was GPLv3 you are now CC0 , i think it is a improvement.

Nevertheless those law make me laugh because the control you have will certainly not comes from a courthouse, moreover i have to tripple check because i had problem with CC in the past.

As far i understand you get the lawyer advice that if you want to pursue or license a code from multiple author it is difficult, then you choose a more copyright friendly law text.

I personally like the first BSD license, you can do whatever you want if you include the author names. Easy, efficient and respectful for the authors, years of GPL (now v3 whatever) is still a problem than CC(0) try to fix, this was solved YEARS ago.

And Of course i am not happy to yet have to learn another LAW package !! i like to know everything but weapon for copyright wars, nop.
*i like to learn in everything*

I hope the next exchange will be what you like or not in the current TECHNICAL solution for the RESTART in (e)monit, talking about feature and improvement and reliability etc...
or put the correction i just made for one of your user.

cheers
