Hello,

RPM Forge (http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/RPMForge) has more recent versions of Monit packaged (http://pkgs.repoforge.org/monit/).

It's also fairly straightforward to update the spec file from the epel-packaged version if you download the SRPM and do that whole dance, if you're the sort who may not want to pull in a bunch of other updates.
