we will extend the access control in the future - it will allow to set per-user virtual view of hosts and services and set admin rights for services, separate collector role, etc.

I think this is a very good point. Even that there is no dedicated user for the collector which is only able to ship data to the M/Monit instance is not a good decision. For small environments the whole thing maybe fine, but as the environment and the staff grows there will be definitely a need for more fine granulated access rights. I would like to give a certain user access to certain services (and/or hosts).
