Hi Martin, thanks for replying. After reinstalling again through aptitude I couldn't replicate the problem anymore.

Running Monit in verbose mode indicated a problem with the permissions on the control file though, which I fixed now.

Thanks again!
Linda

Hi,

the error is reported when you try to start monit? (not during the compilation?)

Please can you:

1.) attach your configuration file
2.) try to run monit with "-vI" options and check output for errors

Martin

Hi everyone,

after installing Monit on Ubuntu 13.4 through both aptitude (Monit version 5.5-6) and from source (Monit version 5.5.1), I keep getting the following error when I interact with Monit (it's running, but won't execute any commands) :

"input in flex scanner failed"

I then installed flex from source (version 2.5.37) and recompiled Monit - with the same result.

Did anyone else encounter this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks
Linda
