This was correct.  Found it while digging through the mail archives.  
Local alerts need to be their own statement/line.  Thank you.

This is also correct.  using "check directory" I couldn't find a way to 
monitor size.  But using "check filesystem" seems to be working quite 
well.  Seems to be a kind of kludge on my part, but I could find no 
other way of doing it.
