I based my answer on what little information you gave in your original question. Therefore, after providing moreinformation, saying you 'disagree' with my answer is kind of pointless.
Wow, no need to be so rude, I certainly didn't mean to cause any offence. I was only disagreeing with one thing you said, in (what I intended to be) a friendly manner...
As you pointed out, Monit can be used in creative ways, but only on a case-by-case basis. Help for any unique uses of Monit can only be provided when you have given all of the necessary information for anyone to understand what you need accomplished. Since you asked such a generalized question, I gave theappropriate generalized answer (and I stand by it).
Well re-reading my original message, I'm not sure how I could have been more specific than "I never want monit to give up trying to start a service".
