[monit] Monitoring files

Hello,

I see monit can monitor an existing file. But I would like to have a directory 
monitored
and an alert to be generated if a specific file appears in that directory. Any 
ideas on
the simplest way to do this?

Also, can monit handle wild cards such as "*" in path names?
