$ gunzip monit-5.0.3-1.i386.rpm.gz

$ rpmbuild -bb monit-5.0.3-1.i386.rpm
error: File /root/monit-5.0.3-1.i386.rpm does not appear to be a specfile.

if I untar it, a specfile does exist
