Hi Martin,

Thank you for answering my question. I have read the FAQ and I considered to use something similar. In the future, when the custom checks become available, it can be another solution.

Hi,

you can use workaround which is described in FAQ ... question no. 13:
http://www.tildeslash.com/monit/doc/faq.php

It's generic workaround which allows to hook script with monit.

We may improve the native DNS test in the future, or if you want to give it a stab, patches are welcomed ;)

Hi list,

Is it possible to monitor authoritative only (recursion disabled) nameserver? It was mentioned in previous threads (and it is clear from the logs of the nameserver) that what monit do is to query for the root nameservers (NS .), but on the nameservers I want to monitor, the recusion is entirely disabled. I'm almost sure it can't be done natively because I looked at the sources of the last version 4.10.1, but may be there is some workaround or I'm eventually missing something?

Thanks
Emil
