monit doesn't nor can care about pop or imap servers. It want's a smtp
server for sending alerts. Try the one set in your mail client under
"Outgoing email" or the like.

Thanks Aleksander for the answer.

I tried to use the smtp server but, it gives me an error saying that monit couldnt resolve. Maybe I need to use a username and a password? But it seems this is only available for the new monit 
4.10 Beta version.

Maybe another option to avoid this?
