Good point :)

This case is somewhat special (applies just in the case that monit is 
using the same smtp server which it is monitoring and managing locally).

This could be solved by planned minor redesign which i though about for 
some time - the handling of alerts and other actions cam be done in 
parallel by standalone threads.
