Can't stop Monit

Hello,

It appears for some reason that after numerous "monit quit" commands, monit
would still be be running.  How can I stop it?  It keeps generating error
logs of not able to send alert e-mails because I configured it to use
Sendmail and I think Sendmail requires authentication, which I'm not sure
how to set up in the monitrc config file.
