Hi,

slightly OT, but solves the problem aswell. I like to use cronolog.
http://cronolog.org/ that is and 1.7.0-beta runs rockstable on production systems here for quite a while.

Also does a more "precise" rotation than e.g. logrotate, doesn't need apache to be restarted and easens
my logparsing a little.

Hi,

it should be sufficient to use 'apachectl graceful' in logrotate instead of restart.

Using 'graceful' (SIGUSR1) the apache master process keeps running with the same PID and just reloads the configuration, check files and gracefully restarts workers (waiting for their work to finish).
