If it is in a remote host, just monitor the listener port. I use:

check host oracle_givs146 with address 10.128.205.146
   if failed host 10.128.205.146 port 1525 type tcp then alert
   mode passive
   group database

Of course you should check that the listener's port is 1525, and change it
accordlyng.
