[Mldonkey-users] why mldonkye overwrites the ini files?

I am using Mldonkey 2.5.3-1 on debian (instable)
installed with "apt-get install". When ever I make
some change in the ini files, the mldonkey overwrites
it and copies the changed ini file to bak file. 

This also happens if I change the in files when
mldonkey is not running.

So how do I make changes in the ini files and still
keep them?
