[Mldonkey-users] mldonkey + 2.6 kernel problem

hi,

may be this one is off topic and it's not actually mldonkey's problem. I
hope it's informative for all of u.

I'm using mldonkey to d/l files all day, and use mplayer to view the
downloaded video (a very common usage scenario I guess). Obviously I
keep mlnet running while I'm viewing the video.

Things work very well when I was using 2.4.21 kernel. Very smooth video
playback with mplayer even when mlnet downloading multiple files. After
I upgraded to 2.6.0-test1, video shutters alot it's very unpleasant...

I guess it's something to do with the anticipatory scheduler in 2.6, or
may be the pre-emptable kernel... (it seems mplayer process is stalled
when mlnet tries to write to the disk) increase mldonkey's buffered
write helps but not solve the problem 100%.

btw 2.6.0-test1 is quite stable... no oops so far... worth a try (on a
spare box of coz :))
