To search a file on two networks, MLdonkey needs to know the hashes of
the file on the two networks (ed2k on edonkey, sig2dat on fasttrack,
and sha1 on gnutella1/2). Currently, this is only possible if
bitzi.com knows the file (MLdonkey will ask for file information using
the hash it knows, and receive the other hashes from
bitzi). Otherwise, it is not currently possible, so that the download
remains on only one network.

In the future, MLdonkey will compute all the hashes for the files it
shares and publish them on bitzi, so that it will become easier to get
all the hashes for the files you are downloading. But for this, a
stable release is needed, so that everybody switches to the new
version. Moreover, MLdonkey will propagate the hashes during
downloads, as Shareaza also does. The Gnutella2 plugin will probably
also be enabled by default, since searches using either ed2k or sha1
hashes are already possible on it, and allow to get all the hashes
like that.
