I took the code from the mingw64 system. They seem to have fixed it.
 
atk and gdk-pixbuf can be updated without changes. glib need some work and I do not really understand the existing patches so I hope someone better qualified will look into that.

The MemoryBarrier issue has come up before [1] and the mingw.org team don't seem too interested in fixing it [2].
