It is not popularity, but quality, what I pursue.

This would make Microsoft a little richer but, how could it improve the quality of lzip?

- merge all the C++ lzip variants into a single package and add
switches like --disable-plzip

It has, if you install it with 'make install-as-lzip'.

(the same applies ddrescue)
